My story

It was the start of my recovery

“HIV woke me up. At the time, I thought it was the worst thing that had ever happened to me. I now realise it was the best.”

When I was diagnosed with late-stage HIV in 2020, I thought my life was over. I was so wrong. It was the start of my recovery from 20 years of struggles with mental health and addiction — a journey of finding myself and becoming more resilient than I ever thought I could be.

For years, I encountered stigma and discrimination, even from people close to me. But with support — and tools I learned in recovery — I found the strength to share my story. Today, I use my experiences to help others through my content, my work for Terrence Higgins Trust, and my speaking engagements.

While my coaching focuses on helping people overcome addiction, I started these emails to support others living with HIV. Later in 2026, I plan to launch an interactive online HIV community. This is just the first step — I'd love for you to be part of it 💙
